Courses
Create courses with AI or by hand, edit them, translate them, and publish them to riders.

What a course is made of#
- Title and a short summary shown on the course card.
- Slides: one card each, with a heading, a short text, optional action points, an icon, and a key takeaway that riders see as “Remember”.
- Flashcards: a question or term on the front, the answer on the back.
- Quiz: multiple-choice questions with 2 to 4 options, one correct answer, and a one-line explanation riders see after answering.
- Settings: the pass mark (70% by default) and the estimated minutes shown to riders.
Riders go through the slides, then the flashcards, then the quiz. A course without quiz questions ends with a finish button instead, and finishing it counts as passing.
The course list#
Courses lists every course, most recently edited first.
Only full admins change courses
| Column | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Course | The English title, and where it came from: “Written by hand” or, for example, “From PDF: safety.pdf”. |
| Status | Draft, Published, Archived, Generating (AI is building it) or Generation failed. |
| Languages | EN, AR, UR, KU for each language added. Grey: ready. Orange: translating. Red: translation failed. |
| Riders completed | Riders in your markets who passed the course. |
| Last edited | Date of the last change. |
Create a course with AI#
AI writes a first version from material you already have. You check and edit everything before riders see it.
Go to CoursesthenCreate course.
In Build it from existing material, add the material.
- Choose a Training file: a PDF, a SCORM package (
.zipfrom Articulate Storyline or Rise), or a.txtor.mdfile. Up to 20 MB. - Or paste the text into Or paste the material. If you add a file and text, the file is used.
- Choose a Training file: a PDF, a SCORM package (
Optional: write Instructions for the AI.
Say who the course is for and what riders should be able to do afterwards. For example: “New motorbike riders in Qatar. Focus on what to do when the customer can’t be reached.”
Set the Pass mark (%). The default is 70.
Select Generate course.
The course page opens with “Claude is reading … and writing the course”. It usually takes one to two minutes. The page updates on its own, and you can leave it and come back.
Check and edit the course, then translate and publish it.
If AI is switched off on the server, the panel says “AI generation is off” and Generate course is disabled. Use Start from scratch until IT sets the key.
The AI writes 4 to 8 slides, 4 to 8 flashcards, 4 to 6 quiz questions with 3 or 4 options each, and an estimated time. It is told to use only your material and not to invent rules, amounts or phone numbers. It can still make mistakes, so check every fact against the source.
Generate in English, then translate
Step-by-step guide: Create a course from a PDF.
SCORM packages#
The platform reads the text inside the package, including Storyline and Rise data files. The AI then rebuilds it as a normal, editable course.
- Interactions, videos, images, audio and scoring from the original package are not kept.
- A zip file without
imsmanifest.xmlis refused: “This zip has no imsmanifest.xml, so it isn’t a SCORM package.” - If the package has too little text: “Couldn’t find readable course text in this SCORM package.”
If generation fails#
The course shows Generation failed and the reason. The failed course stays in the list as an empty draft: select Delete on it, then start again from Create course.
| Message | What to do |
|---|---|
| Upload a PDF, a SCORM .zip, or a .txt/.md file. | Use one of those file types. |
| That file is over 20 MB. Upload a smaller file or split it. | Split the document into smaller topics. |
| The material is too long to turn into one course. Split it into smaller files. | Split it. One course should cover one topic. |
| Claude is rate limiting requests. Try again in a minute. | Wait a minute and try again. |
| The Claude API key was rejected. Check ANTHROPIC_API_KEY. | Contact IT: the AI key is wrong or disabled. |
| Claude declined to process this material. | Check the material, or write the course by hand. |
If generation is still running 15 minutes after it started, for example because the server restarted while the AI was working, the course shows Generation failed with “It stopped before finishing, most likely because the server restarted. Try again.” The banner offers “Try again with the file, or delete this draft with Delete at the top of the page.” (If a slow job does finish after that, its course is still saved.)
Create a course by hand#
Go to CoursesthenCreate course.
In Start from scratch, type a Course title.
Select Create empty course.
The course page opens with an empty English version. Add slides, flashcards and quiz questions, then save.
Edit a course#
Open a course from the list. The editor shows the language selected in the tabs above it (English first). For Arabic and Kurdish, the text fields are written right to left, while buttons and labels stay left to right.
| Part | How to edit it |
|---|---|
| Title and summary | Type in Title and “Summary shown on the course card”. |
| Slides | Add slide adds a card at the end. Each card has a heading, an icon, “What riders need to know”, “Action points, one per line” and “Key takeaway”. Use the arrows to move a card and the bin to remove it. |
| Flashcards | Add flashcard, then fill in the front (question or term) and the back (answer). The bin removes one. |
| Quiz | Add question, then type the question and 2 to 4 options (Add option; the bin removes one). Select the round button next to the correct option. Fill in “Why this answer is correct”. |
When you’re done, select Save changes in the bar at the bottom of the screen. It shows “Unsaved changes” until you save.
Save before you switch language
Saving checks that the course has a title and that every question has text, at least two filled-in options and a correct answer. If not, the message says which question to fix, for example “Pick the correct answer for question 2.”
Saved changes reach riders straight away
Pass mark and minutes#
In Settings on the right of the course page, set Pass mark (%) (0 to 100) and Minutes (1 to 120, shown to riders), then select Save settings.
A new pass mark applies to the next quiz attempts. Riders who already passed stay passed.
Results on the course page#
Results shows, for riders in your markets: Started, Completed, Completion rate, Average score (each rider’s best quiz score) and Time to finish (riders who passed). See where riders drop off opens the dashboard chart for this course.
Translate a course#
Courses can be offered in English, Arabic, Roman Urdu and Kurdish (Sorani). English is always the source.
Finish and save the English version first. It needs at least one slide.
In Translations on the course page, select Translate next to a language.
Or select the language tab, then Translate from English with AI.
Wait until the language shows Ready instead of “Translating…”.
Riders keep seeing the English version until the translation is ready.
Open the language tab and read the translation.
Fix anything that reads badly and select Save changes. Ask a native speaker to check it if you can.
The translation keeps the same slides, flashcards and questions in the same order. Icons and correct answers are copied from the English version.
Re-translate replaces your edits
After you change the English version
- Riders see a course in their language when that translation is ready, and in English otherwise. Arabic and Kurdish are shown right to left.
- Starting a translation that is still running is refused: “The Arabic translation is still running.”
- When AI is switched off, the AI translate buttons are disabled and the page explains why. You can still add a language by hand (below).
Add a language by hand#
Use this to write a translation yourself, for example when AI is off or a native speaker translates the course.
Select the language tab that shows “not added”, then Add manually.
“Add manually” copies the English version for you to translate in the editor. Riders see it once you save.
Translate every field in the editor.
The tab shows a draft badge, the Translations panel shows “Draft, not shown to riders”, and the editor says “Draft: a copy of the English version. Riders who chose Arabic keep seeing the English course until you save your translation.”
Select Save changes.
Riders who chose that language see it from now on.
On a draft, Translate with AI instead replaces the copy with an AI translation, and Delete translation removes the language again.
If a translation fails#
The language shows a failed badge and the status “Failed”, with the reason. A translation still running 15 minutes after it started (for example after a server restart) reads as failed with “It stopped before finishing, most likely because the server restarted. Try again.”
- Retry translation starts it again from the current English version.
- Delete translation asks “Delete the Arabic version? Riders who chose Arabic see the English course.” Confirm with Delete for good, or select Keep it.
- Don’t select Save changes on a failed language unless you translated the text yourself: saving shows it to riders.
Publish, unpublish, archive or delete#
The buttons are at the top right of the course page.
| Button | What happens |
|---|---|
| Publish | Riders assigned to a learning path that contains the course can open it, and the assistant starts using it. Needs at least one English slide, and can’t be used while AI is still building the course. |
| Unpublish | The course goes back to draft. Riders no longer see it, and the assistant stops using it. |
| Archive | Retires the course. Riders don’t see it and it can’t be added to learning paths. Records stay. Select Publish to bring it back. |
| Delete | Select Delete, then Delete for good. Only works if no rider has opened the course. Otherwise: “Riders have already taken this course. Archive it instead so their records stay.” |
Riders only see published courses in their learning paths
Publishing, unpublishing, archiving or deleting a course re-checks the learning paths that contain it: riders who have now passed every published course in a path get that assignment marked complete. A completed assignment is never reopened.
Tips for courses riders finish#
- One idea per card. Riders read between orders, often in their second language.
- Check every rule, amount and phone number against the source document.
- Ask quiz questions about what riders must do on the job, not about wording.
- Always fill in “Why this answer is correct”: it’s how riders learn from a wrong answer.
- After publishing, watch Where riders drop off and shorten the cards where riders stop.
