Assistant knowledge
Choose what the rider assistant knows: the published courses plus the documents you add.

How the assistant answers#
Riders ask the assistant questions from the Ask tab in the rider app, any time.
- It answers only from its knowledge: the English version of every published course (slides and flashcards, not quiz questions) plus every document on the Assistant knowledge page.
- If the answer isn’t there, it says it doesn’t have that information and suggests contacting rider support in the rider app.
- It replies in the rider’s language, or in the language the rider writes in.
- It keeps answers short: one or two sentences, then at most four steps.
- Changes to courses or documents are used within a minute.
The text under the page title says how many published courses the assistant uses. Without an AI key the page says “The assistant is off until ANTHROPIC_API_KEY is set”. Riders then see “The assistant isn’t available yet”, with a pointer to their courses and to rider support in the rider app.
Answers come from AI
Add a document#
Only full admins manage the knowledge
Good documents: SOPs, rider guidelines, FAQ pages, policy updates.
Go to Assistant knowledge.
In Add a document, type a Title.
If you upload a file and leave the title empty, the file name is used.
Choose a File (PDF, .txt or .md, up to 20 MB), or paste the text into Or paste the text.
If you do both, the file is used. Pasted text must be at least 20 characters.
Select Add document.
For a PDF the button shows “Reading the document…” while AI transcribes it once. This can take a minute. When it’s done, the message says: Added “your title”. The assistant uses it from now on.
Update or remove a document#
Documents can’t be edited. To update one, add the new version first, then select Remove on the old one.
Select Remove next to the document.
Confirm with Remove for good, or select Keep.
The assistant stops using the document straight away. A removed document can’t be restored: add it again.
The list shows each document’s title, the first words, its length in words, and the date it was added.
Courses in the knowledge#
Publishing a course adds it to the assistant’s knowledge. Unpublishing or archiving removes it. Only the English version is used, but the assistant still answers in the rider’s language. See Publish.
What happens to riders’ questions#
- Each question is saved in the rider’s activity log (“Asked the assistant”) and counted on the dashboard.
- Riders don’t see earlier conversations: leaving the Ask tab starts a new one.
- A rider can ask up to 40 questions an hour.
- Questions, the knowledge and the answers go through the Claude API (Anthropic) to produce the answer.
