How-to guides
Create a course from a PDF
Turn a training PDF into a checked, translated and published course that riders in a learning path can take.
On this page
Before you start#
- The PDF, up to 20 MB. One course should cover one topic and take riders 3 to 8 minutes. Split long manuals into topics first.
- An admin account. Market managers can see courses but can’t create or change them.
- AI switched on. If CoursesthenCreate course says “AI generation is off” and Generate course is disabled, ask IT to set the AI key.
- A learning path to put the course in, or a plan to create one.
- About 15 minutes, plus time for a native speaker to check translations.
1. Generate the course#
Go to CoursesthenCreate course.
In Training file, choose the PDF.
In Instructions for the AI, say who it’s for and what matters most.
Write in English. For example: “All riders in Gulf markets. Focus on the steps for hot-weather deliveries.”
Check the Pass mark (%) (70 by default).
Select Generate course.
The course page opens and shows that Claude is writing the course. Wait one to two minutes; the page updates on its own.
2. Check and edit#
Read the title and the summary. Riders see both on the course card.
Read every slide next to the PDF.
Check each rule, amount, time limit and phone number. Remove anything that isn’t in the PDF.
Read the flashcards.
Check every quiz question.
Make sure the round button is on the right option, and that “Why this answer is correct” makes sense.
Select Save changes at the bottom.
In Settings, check the pass mark and the minutes, then Save settings.
3. Translate#
In Translations, select Translate next to Arabic (and any other language your riders use).
Wait until the language shows Ready.
Open the language tab and read it, ideally with a native speaker.
Fix what reads badly and select Save changes.
Riders whose language isn’t translated yet see English. More detail: Translate a course.
4. Publish#
Select Publish at the top of the course page.
“Published. Riders assigned to this course can open it now.”
Publishing alone doesn’t give the course to anyone. It also adds the course to the assistant’s knowledge.
5. Put it in a learning path#
Go to Learning paths and open the path (or create one).
In Courses, in the order riders take them, choose the course and select Add course.
Move it to the right place with the arrows.
Check that the path is Active, or use Assign now for a one-off group.
Riders who already have the path see the new course straight away. See Learning paths.
6. Check it as a rider#
There is no preview button. To see the course the way riders do:
Add a test rider in RidersthenAdd a rider, and note the PIN.
Open the path, and in Assign now paste the test rider’s ID, then Assign riders.
Open the rider app in a private browser window and sign in with the test rider’s ID and PIN.
After a week#
Open Where riders drop off for the course. If many riders stop at one card, shorten it, save, and re-translate.
